Inbox by Gmail Lives on Through This New Chrome Extension
With a plethora of projects unwittingly axed by Google — a list the already contains names like Google+ social media platform, Google.gl URL shortener service, as well as Google Allo instant messaging service – the company’s reputation as a project-killing machine has extended its list after it recently took out another target.
The newest project to be laid to rest is Inbox by Gmail with the company saying it wants to concentrate its effort on the main Gmail platform.
Google’s Inbox by Gmail app was created to improve email productivity and organization through a list of important features like allowing gathered emails of the same topic easily group together, highlights surface key details from messages sitting in your inbox giving you preset reminders on important messages that might require your attention as much more.
With the Inbox by Gmail all but dead, many are left scampering for a viable replacement to what the aforementioned platform offers.
The Chrome Web Store is timing with extensions that promise to make the loss of Inbox by Gmail to the guillotine feels a little less painful by continuing to offer the tools needed to make using Gmail a lot more productive.
Of all the extensions I’ve tested, very few manage to deliver on that promise but one hit closer to home than rest is Simplify Gmail.
By default Gmail on a cluttered mess and Simplify Gmail aims to reduce the number of unnecessary items displayed at once by making Gmail appear in a compact uniform.
This turns the sidebar into a collapsable menu that you can completely remove from the screen by clicking on the grill at the far left corner.
The app makes sure your emails are the centerpiece of whatever work you are doing by eliminating most of the convoluted items splated around your Gmail inbox.
The app is an unofficial direct successor to Inbox by Gmail as it is created by Michael Leggett who happens to be the co-creator of the Inbox by Gmail platform.
