Pixelbook Go Will Reportedly Ditch The Hybrid Design
With Google’s big hardware event just around the corner, it is no surprise that the rumors about what is store for us keep popping up almost every day.
Though the company’s next flagship Android smartphone is expected to take center-stage, there will likely be hardware announcements concerning new products powered by Chrome OS and what better device to announce than the next Pixelbook.
We already reported on a leak that consists of a set of photos showing what could possibly be the next flagship Chromebook.
Much of that leak centered around the possible arrival of the device with a 4K display — something that is a rarity with Chromebooks– but a new report has given us a better insight as to the overall design of the Chromebook and what potentially be its official name.
The new leak appears to suggest the company moving away from the hybrid design of the previous entries and going for a much practical clamshell design.
A closer look at the leaked images did suggest Google moving away from their signature design for the Pixelbook with more rounded corners than the usually angular design the company used for with its past Chrome OS-powered devices.
Google is calling the new iteration the Pixelbook Go and according to the newest 9to5Google leak, the device will arrive with options for both 4K and FHD displays, two USB-C ports and a 3.5mm headphone jack all crammed into a magnesium alloy body.
The search giant moving away from a hybrid setup could be a direct response to the Pixel Slate’s poor reception and the admittance of defeat. But from a personal standpoint, I do find the clamshell design a better choice as hybrid computers tend to be fragile.
