Google Stadia Controller Clearly White

Official Google Stadia launch date is for the 19th of this month and in preparation for the game streaming service’s maiden voyage, Google Stadia Director of Product Andrey Doronichev and publisher lead Beri Lee held a Reddit AMA.

The purpose of the Reddit session was to answer some of the burning questions that clients of the gaming streaming service might have but the company also used the opportunity to showcase some important features.

Most of the “new” details that the company shared through the AMA session were features not arriving on launch day but Google managed to slip in some interesting hardware revelation. A new accessory called the “Claw” is being prepped for launch alongside Stadia.

Not many details about the product were shared but Claw is a phone mount for the Stadia controller that is currently through its final stage of testing before being released to the masses.

Andrey Doronichev, Director of Product for Stadia at Google explained that the team went through several trials in an attempt to build a working prototype that involves metal wires, coat hangers before 3D designing a final model. The team later decided to team up with a Made for Google partner called Power Support for the final version of the product.

The “Claw” according to Andrey, was built with Pixel phones in mind but it will be a huge miss if it isn’t compatible with all Stadia-supported phones.

Nothing on the date of release or pricing has been given but should it ever see the light of day, it will be available through the Stadia product page on Google Store.
